The Capital Tennis Association was formed in 1994 as a not-for-profit organization with the primary purpose of coordinating and promoting the sport of tennis within the Washington DC metropolitan gay and lesbian community. CTA provides casual and organized tennis programs - a terrific way to compete and socialize in a supportive atmosphere with other sports enthusiasts!
The Capital Classic Tournament channels enthusiasm for tennis into philanthropic activities within our community. Each year Cap Classic enlists numerous CTA members, tournament participants and parties interested in assisting our charity partners, into an annual tournament.
As in years past, we expect the Capital Classic to draw several hundred participants and spectators from the greater metropolitan D.C. area, as well as from across the United States, Canada, and Europe. And again, the Capital Classic is part of the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance tour.
